Grief and Incarceration
Episode 30: Grief and Incarceration
On today's podcast I discuss a new topic to me---Grief and Incarceration. I recently came in contact with a few clients who have experienced incarceration within their family. From an outsider's perspective incarceration of a family member can certainly lead to grief. Depending on the length of prison sentence, a sudden family member's incarceration can lead to traumatic grief as if an individual died. The incarceration of a family member can dramatically affect a family's financial stability. I liken this situation to the sudden passing of an income-earning spouse. What is the family to do and how are they to survive financially? I talk about this in real terms on the podcast.
I also give some tips that I have picked up in terms of what to do if a family member becomes incarcerated.
